What is a perfect day? I would say it is a day filled with fun with the one person on the planet that makes you feel better than anyone. We have hit a few bumps in the road over the last few months moving across the country and the financial stress that comes with that. We have experienced our first break in. We have had cars break down, appliances break and even a fender bender. But, we are still here and happy. That's the difference. Over the last few weeks we have gone through some shit but stayed positive. It is the attitude that makes the difference.
We were able to great a day together yesterday and spent it adventuring around in the fall weather. We found a plantation that doubled as a winery, so we decided to spend out afternoon on their grounds partaking in some awesome wine and playing some outdoor activities. Here are some shots from the day.

People ask all the time, 'Are you this happy all the time?' or 'How are you this happy all the time?' I just don't know. I guess I am just lucky.

Five years. This is a huge moment and milestone in my career. I am proud to work for a company that continues to innovate the way Apple does. I have grown more than I thought possible over the last half decade both personally and professionally. I am humbled, honored and lucky to have found a place where I feel challenged and appreciated daily. A collaboration like this is hard to find.
When I walked through the doors for the first time I was looking for a steady paycheck. Since then I have moved to across the country and back again. I have been encouraged to take on numerous roles throughout the years and coached along the way. Through these opportunities, I have sharpened life-long skills that make me a better person. I have made life long friends along the way that have no idea how much they mean to me. Thank you all.
This journey is just beginning. I am a true believer in you get what you give. The second I started treating my employment like I gave a damn, I got more. The more I gave, the more satisfaction and opportunity I got. I am also a believer in mentorship along the way. Thanks to anyone who poured into me over the last few years and I hope that one day I can pay you back for all you have done for me.
This accomplishment an awesome moment in my life, and I look forward to what the future brings.

Had an opportunity to get out and go for a hike today. On top of that, I was able to test out my new iPhone camera which I had been dying to try. The iPhone 7 Plus camera is incredible. The new portrait mode feature for the Plus model rivals my old DSLR. I attached a few photos here!
Enjoy, share and be kind!

We recently had a break in. It sucked, but since then we have been going borderline overboard with security. Essentially we can now see and hear every square inch of our home, including yards; plus any motion detection. Everything is controllable from HomeKit on our iPhones, cloud-stored audio, and video. The works. So nerdy. The fun part is that we can now spy on each other and creep each other out when we are not home. The other day I was yelling at my dog to get off the couch from work. She looked so confused on the camera as I watched. Jamie even scared me the second day we had thee cameras set up by whispering ghost noises throughout the house.
We are creepy.

I was at Kroger picking up some groceries so Jamie and I could enjoy our Friday night together. We had both just gotten out of work and looking forward to spending the night watching scary movies and lying around. I was checking out and felt my phone vibrate. I looked down to see Jamie’s name on my phone screen. I picked up; she sounded different. She was rambling, saying that our neighbor ran over as Jamie soon as she pulled up to tell her someone was in our backyard. I did not believe her, but I was only down the street at the store, so I raced home. I found Jamie standing in the street with our neighbor staring at the house. I confidently explained that all was well and told her I would check out the perimeter before we went in.
I took cautious steps across my lawn as if it was a Scooby-Doo mystery and my confidence was waning. I peered over our tall privacy fence to see that our bedroom window had to be broken open and there could be someone in the house. I ran back to the street, fumbling for my phone to call the police. This moment will be one I never forget. When you are young you feel in control; nothing can happen, and you are the master of the universe. And at this moment, I was not in control. Our dogs, all possessions, and lives are in the house. I juggled trying to remain calm, console Jamie and figure out how to get the cops to the house as quickly as possible.
Nashville Police responded within 4 minutes. These 4 minutes felt like an eternity. I did not hear any barking, and if you have ever met our dogs, they are exquisite at barking. I got Jamie into her car so she would be out of the way as the officer approached me and the house. He confirmed that there could potentially be someone in our home. He did not hear any barking. He radioed for backup so they could sweep the house. The next two officers arrived in minutes as I tossed them the keys to my front door while I pulled a 9-iron from the back trunk of my Ford Expedition.
As time went on I got more instinctual, my thought process change. More efficient. At least I think so. I believe this is adrenaline. I knew Jamie was safe. Check. I knew the dogs could be in trouble. Check. I knew that there was a problem. Check. My safety was irrelevant. Check. Fix the problem. Check. Besides, if someone was going to try to escape after breaking into my house and robbing me of more than belongings, I was a least going to take a swing or 2. I don’t want to hurt anyone or get hurt. But I was not thinking clearly. I readied my aim as the officers came back out from the house. “Do you see two small dogs?” I yelled from the street, “Yeah, I see two little shits right here!” Exclaimed one of our neighborhood friendly police officers. They found no one was in our home. Whoever it was did manage to scare the hell out of our dogs, mess up our house and steal as much as they could carry.
We are all safe and sound. This could have been way worst, and I am thankful that we are here to talk about it. In the end, a few stolen speakers, trip-money change jar and cash are nothing compared to having the people you love with you unharmed. I hope that whoever took our stuff (and sense of security) made it worth it.
I know that they suck and we are still badass.
On a funny side note…I ordered a security system for the house the day before this happened. The irony, am I right?

I was in 9th grade. Summer had ended, and I was officially in high school. I remember thinking how cool it was that I got to wear “normal clothes” to school. I just graduated 8th grade and had to wear a uniform for years to a Catholic school. I was ecstatic to wear a Blink 182 t-shirt, jeans and hang out with my friends in the halls. From an early age, I was always trying to bend rules, not break them, just bend them a little. I would always figure out some loophole in scheduling that would allow me to get three art classes, or a befriend the school secretary so she could help me figure out ways to get our of school early, legally. I was always the one who talked everyone’s parents out of grounding us for whatever pathetically stupid thing we did, like run down the street naked or allow five 16-year-old boys to embark on their first cross-country DIY tours having just secured their licenses days prior or blow up a small refrigerator in our local park with quarter sticks of dynamite. Whatever happened, I was usually the one who got us out of it.
I just got to school, and everyone was filing into their classes. My friends and I were hungry, and the vending machine in the cafeteria was always stocked with Big Texas cinnamon rolls and Iced Tea. It was the perfect mix of sugar and carbs that any young body needs to power through the day. The only problem was you couldn’t access the cafeteria until lunch; the entrances were chained and dead bolted. Luckily, I was only about 80 pounds in 9th grade and could squeeze through the crack in the door to get our breakfast, regardless of chained doors. With the chaos of everyone running to try to get to class on time, this was my chance. I made my way through the halls, to the open forum and to the side door of the cafeteria that no one paid attention too. I squeezed through the doors with ease and found my way to the vending machines. Being 80 pounds, it was also easy for me to get my arm all the way through the vending machine door to get however many Big Texas’ and Iced Teas we needed. I am a man of the people. This was when the school alarms started going off.
I ripped my arm from the vending machine and ran to class, dropping and spilling my contraband as I made my way through the halls. Everyone was still milling around by the time I got there to my classroom, and I found my way to my desk; no one seemed to notice. I remember when the alarm finally turned off and my teacher looked concerned, not sad, not upset. She had a heightened sense of awareness. Another teacher darted into our class and asked to speak to her for a minute in the hallway. I didn’t know if I was in trouble or what was going to happen. When she came back in everyone knew we had to pay attention. I knew that they weren’t looking for me. They didn’t care how many iced teas I had. It was as if we all snapped out of our adolescents for a minute. Sort of a loss of innocence. We were all together regardless of maturity, age, sex or race. Something was not right. She explained that some bombing or explosion had happened in New York. I remember being kind of scared but also unsure. “Why were this such a big deal? New York is miles away; we are safe right?” I had no idea what or how to feel.
She turned on the big box TV from the 70’s bolted to the upper right corner of the classroom, and then I understood.
Regardless of what you think about today, regardless if you think it was an inside job, terrorists, flying spaghetti monster, our government or whatever other theory is out there, people lost their lives today that didn’t have too. That’s a fact, and it still brings emotions I can’t describe.
This week's playlist get the feet tapping and heart racing. Enjoy some poppy-alternative jams from Coins, Borns, Bad Suns, Grouplove and more. This list will help you dance the weekend away!
Somos, on their summer headliner, and their tour mates, inspire this weeks playlist. They recently rolled through Nashville, and it was a energetic show. Finding new jams in one of my favorite activities and this list is all new for me! Enjoy this raw, hard-hitting list with songs from High Waisted, Free Throw and Secret Stuff!
Let's coast into our 3-day weekend!

This week's installment of the 6-pack is packed with new alternative-rock gems! Including new tracks from Moose Blood, The Menzingers, Bayside, and a personal favorite of mine, Jimmy Eat World.

I let the alternative radio play all week and found these six gems just waiting for me. This week we have a little poppier sound with Grouplove and Parade of Lights. We will also hear the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" writing styles with Green Day's new single 'Bang Bang.'
Great list to put on, drive home and coast into another steamy summer weekend.
